Online retailing In India

India has undergone a recent transformation in the field of shopping. The retail sector in India consisted of organized retail and unorganized retail. Recently, however, it has focused on a new form of retailing. This is known as online retailing or e-tailing. With the widespread use of the Internet and the changing socio-economic structure of India, it has proved to be an ideal place for online retailing. Online retail companies initially started selling books online, but now there are many online retailers that provide specialized and customized products. The past few years have seen drastic changes in the way Indians shop. This paper presents the scenario of online retailing in India and how it became popular. It explains the reasons behind the adoption of online retailing in India and also lists the challenges faced by online retailing. It also provides suggestions on how to make online retailing more beneficial for consumers in India.

Challenges and opportunities

E-retail or online is growing at a faster pace in India. It has seen a steady growth of 50-60% over the years. E-retail accounts for 10% of e-commerce activity in India. While there are prospects for growth in online retailing in India, we have challenges that need to be addressed.
